With a strong record of spinout generation, IPS helps UO’s research enterprise connect to award-winning new ventures that contribute to the economic vitality of Oregon, the United States, and global society.
Startup companies are a critical component of UO’s innovation activities. Startup companies are eligible for unique funding sources ranging from federal SBIR grants to private investment. Startups sometimes also have greater flexibility than the university in managing third party relationships that can be needed to advance technologies to commercialization. Startups may also be better suited than a university lab to advance a research project through prototype development and product validation.
There are numerous factors to take into consideration before launching a startup company. The links from this page provide some general information about startups as well as information about the current UO startup companies. We are fortunate to have a robust regional community assisting startups in the South Willamette Valley and encourage you to learn about and participate in RAIN Eugene.
If you’re interested in starting a company or learning more about the startup process, contact IPS to set up a meeting to discuss your options, obligations, and opportunities.
